Layoff history
A planned IPO within 12-18 months sat behind Adda247's decision to lay off more than 200 employees, about 20% of its workforce, in May 2026. The Gurugram-based edtech company described the move as a structural adjustment to sharpen execution. It is pushing toward profitability, having reported FY25 revenue of about ₹240 crore against projected losses of roughly ₹70 crore. Multiple departments were affected, and the closure of its Hindi CUET vertical directly contributed to the cuts. Some staff said dismissals were sudden, with April 30 meetings where employees were asked to resign immediately. At least six laid-off workers reportedly had not received their financial settlements, raising employee-relations concerns. CEO Anil Nagar reaffirmed the IPO timeline and stressed the need to reach profitability and strengthen the core test-preparation business, which accounts for about 75% of revenue.
