Layoff history
Citing slower workflows that had built up during a period of rapid growth, ASML said on January 28, 2026 that it would cut roughly 1,700 jobs while reorganizing its Technology and IT & Data units to restore agility and sharpen its engineering focus. The Dutch semiconductor equipment maker said the reductions would fall mostly on leadership-level roles, primarily in the Netherlands with some in the United States. At the same time, the company plans to create new engineering positions and keep hiring in Manufacturing, Customer Support and Sales. CEO Christophe Fouquet said, "improving our processes and systems will allow us to innovate more and innovate better, generating further responsible growth." Management stressed it was acting "at a moment of strength" after strong FY2025 results, and pledged to support affected staff "with care, speed, transparency, and fairness."
