Layoff history
C3.ai cut about 280 jobs on February 25, 2026, roughly 26% of its workforce of around 1,181, in a restructuring led by new CEO Stephen Ehikian. The enterprise AI software firm had expanded aggressively during the 2024-2025 AI boom, but then faced slower enterprise adoption, longer sales cycles and a missed earnings report. Its shares fell to record lows after the announcement. Ehikian attributed the cuts partly to AI-driven productivity gains of 'up to 100 times' in some areas, citing faster sales operations and engineering work done with Anthropic's Claude. The company expects about $135 million in reduced annual non-GAAP operating expenses, roughly $60 million of it from headcount, and disclosed $10 million to $12 million in pretax severance and restructuring charges.
