Before the merger, Monster had roughly 900 employees across the U.S., Canada, Europe, and India, while CareerBuilder counted about 395 staff, mostly in the U.S. The joint venture was formed by Apollo Global Management, which held a controlling interest, and Randstad NV, which retained a minority stake. Management said the cuts reflected redundancies created by combining two overlapping job-board businesses. Sales, marketing, IT, and operations were all affected.
