Foursquare laid off 105 employees on May 23, 2024, eliminating 25% of its workforce in what was the location-intelligence company's third round of cuts since its founding. CEO Gary Little emailed staff saying the reductions were needed to "set the company on more sustainable financial footing." Three product units were shut down entirely: Visits, OCF, and Foursquare City Guide. Work on Mobile Developer Tools, Geode, and the current version of FSQ Insights was also paused. Affected employees had system access removed immediately upon notification. The company, which has raised roughly $400 million since it launched 15 years ago, had previously cut staff during the 2020 Factual merger and again in 2022.

Reason: cost reduction and operational restructuring
