Recruit Holdings announced on July 10, 2025 that its two flagship HR platforms, Indeed and Glassdoor, would cut a combined 1,300 jobs as it folded Glassdoor's operations into Indeed and pushed both brands toward AI-powered hiring. The reduction represented 6% of Recruit's HR technology division. Most of the cuts were in the United States and concentrated in R&D, technology, and people and sustainability functions, though all geographies and departments were affected. Glassdoor CEO Christian Sutherland-Wong was set to depart on October 1 as part of the consolidation. Recruit Holdings CEO Hisayuki Idekoba wrote to staff: "AI is changing the world, and we must adapt by ensuring our product delivers truly great experiences. Delivering on this ambition requires us to move faster, try new things, and fix what's broken." The cuts were the third significant round since 2023, bringing the cumulative total across both companies to roughly 5,500 jobs eliminated over two years.

Reason: Consolidation of Glassdoor into Indeed and AI-focused restructuring
