NetApp cut roughly 700 jobs, about 6% of its global workforce, on April 30, 2025, in a move the data storage company framed as a push to 'optimize cost structures' and build capabilities for the AI era. The company had already signaled workforce reductions earlier in the fiscal year, disclosing plans for at least a 4% cut in filings covering the nine months ended January 2025. Revenue for Q3 FY2025 came in at $1.64 billion, up just 2% year-on-year, and the company reported deal slippage during the quarter. In its statement, NetApp said the restructuring was designed to 'strengthen its ability to serve customers, innovate at scale, and respond to fast-moving industry dynamics, including the rapid rise of AI.' The company pledged to take 'thoughtful steps' to support departing employees but did not specify severance terms.
