Layoff history
Paycom cut approximately 500 workers on October 1, 2025, at its Oklahoma City headquarters, explicitly replacing those positions with artificial intelligence. The company said in a statement that the cuts "impact only non-client-facing roles that have been automated," while sales, implementation, software, and service roles were spared and continued to be actively recruited. The Oklahoma-based HR and payroll software firm reported $1.88 billion in revenue in 2024 and employed more than 7,000 people at the start of 2025. Transition assistance including severance packages was offered to affected workers. The scale of the cuts was notable given Oklahoma City's unusually tight labor market, where unemployment had stayed below 4% for four consecutive years.
