Pure Storage has 1 publicly reported layoff round on record (most recent February 8, 2024). A total of about 275 employees were affected across these rounds.
Layoff history
Pure Storage laid off up to 275 employees globally in February 2024, framing the move as a "workforce rebalancing initiative" to align staff with strategic priorities. The cuts hit several divisions including data protection, AI and analytics, database, alliances, and unstructured data. Management pointed to competitive pressure and a forecast of declining year-over-year revenue for Q4 fiscal 2024, down about 3.5%, attributed in part to a subscription model transition and delayed telco customer shipments. Meta's reported shift toward rival storage vendors for AI training workloads added to the market headwinds. Affected employees were offered the option to apply for open internal roles or access outplacement services for external job searches. It was the company's third workforce reduction in roughly a year.
Reason: workforce rebalancing, competitive pressure, declining revenue forecast
