TikTok put around 300 jobs at risk at its Dublin headquarters in March 2025, roughly 10% of its nearly 3,000-person Irish workforce. The company filed a collective redundancy notification with Ireland's Department of Enterprise on March 6, with redundancies expected to take effect in April 2025. The cuts were part of a broader global restructuring announced by TikTok in February 2025. TikTok did not publicly confirm the exact number of affected roles, and Ireland's Minister for Enterprise Peter Burke said his first thoughts were with the employees and their families, noting the company may have open positions available for those at risk. Ireland was near full employment at the time, and the government committed to supporting displaced workers through its employment services.

TikTok laid off roughly 1,000 employees globally in May 2024, cutting deep into its operations and marketing organizations. Head of Operations Adam Presser and Chief Brand and Communications Officer Zenia Mucha notified affected staff, saying the restructuring was designed to "boost efficiency for long-term growth." The company's global user operations team was being largely dismantled, with remaining employees absorbed into trust and safety, marketing, content, and product groups. The cuts had reportedly been in the works for nearly a year but were delayed by leadership turnover. They came as TikTok faced pressure from a looming US ban unless parent ByteDance divested the app, and as the company wrestled with profitability despite generating an estimated $20 billion in revenue in 2023.

TikTok cut more than 250 workers at its Dublin office in April 2024, targeting its Training and Quality team in what the company called a "redesign" meant to "further enhance our quality assurance processes." The Dublin hub had employed roughly 3,000 people before the restructuring. Selection for redundancy was partly based on results from a policy proficiency test administered in November 2023, a detail that drew sharp criticism from staff who said they had not been told the test would be used as a redundancy criterion. Employees who cleared the test and met performance standards were offered a one-time supplement to their 2023 annual bonus, provided they remained active through April 25, 2024. Workers also criticized the timing: the redundancy announcement coincided with office celebrations including a St. Patrick's Day party.
