TomTom announced 300 job cuts on June 30, 2025, reducing its global workforce by roughly 10% as the Amsterdam-based mapping company reshapes around artificial intelligence. The positions eliminated are concentrated in application layer development, sales, and customer support. CEO Harold Goddijn framed the move as part of a broader platform overhaul, saying the modernized system "shortens implementation cycles for our customers, accelerating our time-to-value." Less than half of the affected roles are in the Netherlands, where TomTom employs about 1,200 of its 3,700 staff. The company reported a 17-million-euro loss in 2024, and revenue is projected to fall from 574 million euros that year to between 505 and 565 million euros in 2025. Once a leader in portable GPS devices, TomTom has spent years pivoting to licensing digital maps to automakers like Volkswagen and Renault.
