Wix has 3 publicly reported layoff rounds on record between August 9, 2022 and May 25, 2026. A total of about 1,470 employees were affected across these rounds.
Layoff history
In late May 2026, website-building platform Wix announced plans to lay off about 1,000 employees, roughly 20% of its 5,277-person workforce, in its largest round of cuts to date and one that exceeds its pandemic-era reductions. The Israel-headquartered company, where more than 60% of staff are based, pointed to weak earnings, a stock that had fallen nearly 50% since the start of the year, and eroding profitability driven partly by rising AI computing costs. Much of that expense stems from Base44, the natural-language app-building platform Wix acquired, whose growing usage pushed inference costs higher even as it reached $150 million in annual recurring revenue. The cuts will span all departments and play out over the coming months as the company absorbs AI-related costs and role redundancies.
Reason: Profitability pressure and rising AI (Base44) compute costs
