Zepz has 3 publicly reported layoff rounds on record between May 16, 2023 and February 12, 2025. A total of about 650 employees were affected across these rounds.
Layoff history
London-based money transfer company Zepz cut approximately 200 employees in February 2025, representing 20% of its roughly 1,000-person global workforce. The reductions fell heavily on IT functions including database administration, development operations, and software engineering. Management attributed the cuts to the completion of a multi-year replatforming effort and increased automation and AI adoption across its operations, which reduced the need for certain technical and operational roles. The company also proposed closing its business entities in Kenya and Poland. CEO Mark Lenhard, in an internal memo, called the move "a difficult choice" but said it was critical to the mission's long-term success. Customer service was not affected. The February round was Zepz's third round of cuts since 2023.
