Zillow has 7 publicly reported layoff rounds on record between November 2, 2021 and February 2, 2026. A total of about 2,587 employees were affected across these rounds.
Layoff history
About 200 Zillow employees lost their jobs in February 2026 in a round the company described as performance-related rather than a reaction to market conditions. A spokesperson said, "After thoughtful consideration, we made the decision to separate a small number of employees whose performance did not meet expectations," casting the cuts as part of the real estate company's annual review process. The reductions came to roughly 2-3% of overall headcount and were not tied to recent business developments, the Seattle-based company said. Notably, Zillow still listed close to 200 open positions at the time, a sign the move reflected role replacement and reprioritization rather than a net shrinking of the workforce. The timing coincided with a wave of layoffs across several Seattle-area technology and real estate firms.
